Vice President of Research and Evaluation
Dr. Michael Bates is one of the co-founders of Mosaic. As a senior advisor and consultant, Dr. Bates oversees the successful implementation projects in line with the vision of Mosaic. Dr. Bates is also an Assistant Researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara and serves as the Evaluation Director for the Children and Families Commission of Santa Barbara County.
Dr. Bates received his doctorate in counseling, clinical, and school psychology from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1999. He received the Researcher of the Year Award in 1996 from the California Association of School Psychologists and has more than ten years research experience.
Dr. Bates has developed expertise and recognition in outcome-based evaluation design through his decade long successful hands on experience with large-scale evaluation projects. Some of the projects to his credit include his work at the child clinical psychology department at the University of Washington School of Medicine and four years as an evaluation coordinator for the MISC project with the County Mental Health Department of Santa Barbara County. In addition, he has also worked as a school psychologist in elementary, high school, alternative, community, and Head Start classrooms.
